Black Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is rich in silica and has a glassy appearance with a smooth, uniform texture. The color of Black Obsidian is deep, glossy black, which can sometimes display a sheen or contain subtle variations like gray or brown streaks when light reflects off its surface.

Obsidian is hard and brittle, making it sharp and effective for cutting. This quality led to its use in toolmaking and weaponry by ancient civilizations. Beyond its practical uses, Black Obsidian is also valued in various spiritual and healing contexts. It is often associated with protection, grounding, and cleansing of negative energy.
